AMD 1

For my AMD, I watched a German TV show called Best Friends. Although the theme song is in German, it ends in Best Friends being sung in English....hmm. I could tell right away that this show was all about making fun of teenagers and not supposed to be serious at all.

The show begins with a bunch of teens going to school in the morning. One by one, they introduce themselves. Now this show has a LOT of characters. The first scene is two teens holding a very clear string on the side walk so that people passing by trip over it. Two kids named Flip and Tobias are pranksters who are determined to video tape every crazy thing they do. Avalanche introduces herself as a girl who wants to dance despite her father's wish for her to become a solicitor. Jula is a girl who cannot decide how she feels about any emotion in her life. And lastly, there is a boy named Lukas who vividly describes what he sees when he sees two people kissing. His descriptions were quite graphic and since this show is for a younger audience, I could tell that there is probably a cultural difference between Germans and Americans since Germans are much more open about sensual themes. The show ends with a girl who had tripped in the first scene, a victim of Tobias and Flip's prank, tying up Tobias and Flip and ripping out their video tape. Basically, the end was just a light-hearted comical way to wrap things up.

A couple things I noticed when watching were that they would switch between German and English when saying a couple of words. A lot of the teens' slang words they used were cool pronounced like "kuhl" and phat pronounced like "fet". I thought that was very interesting since we tend to say cool a lot too and so do they! Anyways, I recommend you guys checking out this show on youtube. It is funny in a way that is overly-done and cheesy, yet you still can't help but laugh.
