For the third Kulture assignment, I read the article titled "Organic Food Obsessions", "German Fast Food" and "Germany's Real Fast Food Joints". I was unsurprised to read about the German's distaste for modified food and pesticides. Doesn't much of Europe feel this way? The trend in Europe for some time has been to support organic, healthy, and environmentally-friendly decisions, not just for food, but for energy as well.
In the second article, I salivated the entire time. I would love to have some Wurst, especially a Bratwurst im Brötchen. The Håhnchen didn't sound too different from our rotisserie chickens here, but I can't say no to a side of Pommes. I hate vinegar on things, so I'm glad to hear they don't do that. I'd looked up a recipe for Schnitzel recently, and after reading through the different options, I have a good idea for some substitutions...
The third article was full of great tips for German fast food! I can't wait to travel again through the German-speaking parts of Europe and test out such tips as Lamm Döner and the Salat komplett. I just have to remember not to pay until leaving.

In the last two articles, I enjoyed reading about German humor, pessimism, and sarcasm. I have a whole family of pessimists and dry humorists. Who knows? Maybe this is our German heritage showing. It would be easy to assume based on these types of responses that they are generally unhappy people, but this is not the case! It's simply a straight-forwardness that I truly appreciate.
