I was in the mood for some poetry, so for this AMD I decided to research famous poets and their poems. Since everybody knows Goethe, I chose to research Joseph Freiherr Von Eichendorff. He was born in the Upper Silesia, which, during his time was part of the German Empire, but is now part of Poland. After studying law in Halle and Heidelberg, Eichendorff took on various jobs servicing the Prussian State and volunteering in the Napoleonic Wars. He was an accomplished historian in addition to his love of writing poetry. He believed that one should find happiness in nature's changing seasons, and this is apparent in much of his poetry. He writes about the way the sky kisses the earth, and dusk spreading its wings. The poems are short, but his use of imagery is just wonderful.
I won't post his poems, as there are too many, but I thought I'd post the website that drew me to Eichendorff.
The poems are wonderful as well as the paintings that go with them.
