Kultur 4

Hallo!

All of these articles in Kultur 4 were interesting, but the one I related to the most was the one about Bike paths. I commute to north campus and back every day on my bike. Ann Arbor happens to be a pretty biker-friendly city. Living on central campus puts everything you need at a relatively short distance, and most of the time biking to your destination is much more practical than driving. We all know driving through this town is a nightmare. There are bike paths on most on-campus roads which is a very nice privilege. On some of the busier roads that have no bike path (such as Fuller), a handy sidewalk is usually provided.
In my opinion the advantages of biking, provided that the weather cooperates and the commute is short enough, vastly outweigh the disadvantages. Biking requires no gas, no parking fee, no insurance, and is good exercise. People often forget that there are traffic laws for bikers just like for cars. If you do not obey the red dictator, you may get struck by a cadillac in front of a cop on your way to class. This is not a good way to start the day.
